A look behind the scenes.
Fantasy bridal wear is a big part of my job. Many special pieces have been created in my workshop so far for the most beautiful day in life! Here I would like to give you a little insight into the process of how such a custom-made weddingdress is created.
The biggest and most complex part until a garment is created is always the development process. The design represents the first step, but now there are following further, no less complicated sections: In the pattern construction, the design is made into a wearable piece.
Custom-made products are – as the name suggests – made completely new, based on the measurements of each customer. I never use pre-made patterns, but create everything in a guaranteed own effort and by hand. At first I am constructing a basic pattern with the individual dimensions, with which I then use different techniques to match the design and shape it to the final model. My favorite technique – besides constructing on the sheet – is draping. This is particularly suitable for beautiful folds!
In order to achieve a perfect fit, it may also be the case that samples are made or fittings for more complicated pieces are necessary. So overall the whole process consists of constructing a pattern, then making a production-ready version with seam allowances and all individual pattern parts, sample models and changes – until a perfectly fitting piece of clothing is created.
When the pattern is finished, all parts are cut in the original fabric. These are not only layers that are visible from the outside, but also the lining, inserts and other components. A dress usually consists of a large number of small individual parts, all of which are cut out by hand.
Now it’s up to the needle and thread! All individual parts and layers are carefully put and sewn together here. I only use high quality tools and materials to achieve the best possible result. Over the years I have put together a few machines in my studio that can be used to carry out a wide variety of works and several tailors can work at the same time. In addition to the sewing and overlock machines, I also have an embroidery machine on site with which individual motifs can be embroidered.
Every dress is created with great care, passion and attention to detail!
Many projects are also done with elaborate handwork. This can be, for example, dying individual colors, sweing on laces, pearls and braids. Each of them gives the creation much more depth in the end and the effort is always worth it! For example, lace applications are always sewn on entirely by hand. So they adapt perfectly to the body shape, but still remain flexible. That takes a lot more time – but handwork is always a quality feature and a specialty of couture fashion. Accessories such as bags, belts, headdresses and veils can also be made and round off the picture.
When everything is ready, photos are taken and the dress and all accessories are shipped in a suitable garment bag. It can also be picked up in the studio and a personal fitting can be arranged. In any case, I am only satisfied when my work is absolutely perfect and the bride is happy with her dress!
Then just write me an email. I look forward to your request!
